Ascot Resources, a Vancouver-based company listed on the TSX under the ticker symbol AOT, recently reported its highest-grade gold intercept in five years. The company unveiled a 1-meter interval at 488 grams per tonne of gold at its Big Missouri deposit, as part of a broader 7.9-meter intersection grading 62.76g/t gold and 27.36g/t silver. This successful drilling program is part of Ascot’s Premier gold project, located in British Columbia on Nisga’a Nation treaty lands.
The 2022 exploration season saw the completion of 50 drill holes totaling 4,752 meters. The drilling program focused on targeting gold mineralization at the A Zone and Unicorn Area of the Big Missouri deposit around the old S-1 open pit. Of the 50 holes drilled, 20 have returned assays greater than 10g/t gold.
President and CEO Derek White highlighted the significant intercepts from the recent batch of results, including 3 meters at 30.98g/t gold and 9.35g/t silver, as well as 1 meter at 90.7g/t gold and 19.75g/t silver. White mentioned that the headline intercept of 488g/t gold is the highest-grade interval drilled by Ascot since 2017 and the fourth highest assay ever recorded at Big Missouri.
Ascot Resources is eagerly awaiting results from additional drilling, including 12 holes drilled from underground at Big Missouri and surface holes near the S-1 pit. The Premier gold mine, which operated from 1918 to 1952 and was once the largest gold mine in North America, holds historical significance for the company. The Big Missouri deposit, which operated from 1938 to 1941, also plays a key role in Ascot’s exploration and development plans.
