A privately held exploration company specializing in lithium brine resources, Xtract Lithium Corp., is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural brine exploration drilling project in Manitoba. This innovative drilling operation is scheduled to commence in the latter half of August 2024, signifying a significant milestone for the company.
Xtract Lithium secured the mineral rights to over 177915.87 acres along the Duperow Formation in Manitoba (Willow Lithium Project). Geological evidence supports the selection of Manitoba for this exploration project, as it is believed to be an extension of the Duperow Formation, known for its economic lithium brine deposits in Saskatchewan. The subsurface water flow in Manitoba aligns with geological conditions favorable for lithium brine formation in neighboring regions.
The technical team at Xtract, in collaboration with academia and government research bodies, will be testing a new theory regarding the original lithium source through this drilling project. The primary objective of the initial drilling hole is to evaluate the potential for significant lithium deposits in the Manitoba Duperow Formation.
This fully permitted project is expected to begin in late August and will be conducted in a strategic location within Manitoba’s established oil and gas jurisdiction. By utilizing advanced drilling techniques and cutting-edge technology, Xtract aims to accurately assess the lithium concentration and quality of the brine to gain essential insights into the region’s mineral potential for future exploration and development.
Partially supported by the Government of Manitoba’s grant program, the Manitoba Mineral Development Fund, this project represents a significant step for Xtract Lithium as they embark on their first brine exploration venture in Manitoba. The results from this project are expected to enhance the company’s portfolio and contribute to global efforts towards securing a sustainable supply of lithium for the green energy sector.
Xtract Lithium is committed to conducting responsible and sustainable exploration practices, ensuring minimal environmental impact and adherence to all regulatory requirements throughout the project. The Willow Lithium Project, covering mineral rights over 177915.87 acres along the Duperow Geological Formation that spans Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, aims to test the lithium potential of the Manitoba Duperow Formation for the first time.
Xtract Lithium Inc. is a Canadian exploration company focused on discovering and developing high-quality lithium brine resources to support the shift towards renewable energy and electric transportation. For further information, please contact Bruce R. Wiebe, P.Geo, COO at info@xtractlithium.com.
