On September 12, 2024, Ucore Rare Metals Inc. provided an update on its advancements in commercializing its RapidSX™ rare earth separation technology. The company is conducting trials at its Commercialization and Demonstration Facility in Kingston, Ontario, to separate heavy and light rare earth elements. These trials also include testing ancillary systems that will be integrated into Ucore’s first commercial rare earth separation facility in Alexandria, Louisiana, known as the Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex.
The Commercialization and Demonstration Facility operates seven days a week with dedicated technical teams conducting various activities. These activities include processing mixed rare earth oxide and carbonate feedstocks, developing ancillary processing systems, and conducting product qualification work to meet the specifications of potential Western world partners.
The Company’s 52-stage RapidSX™ Demonstration Plant in Kingston operates 120 hours per week and processes tons of feedstock in a simulated commercial environment. The plant is fully automated, incorporating approximately 600 feedback sensors to monitor and control various parameters for efficient operation.
Beyond rare earth separation, the Commercialization and Demonstration Facility also focuses on refining operations, including Cerium depletion processes, direct leaching of rare earth elements, yttrium removal, distillation, neutralization systems, and batch-level processes for rare earth oxide production.
Since its commencement, Ucore has received interest from Western world end users for rare earth oxide products produced to specific requirements. The company plans to disrupt China’s control of the North American REE supply chain by establishing rare earth processing facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Alaska.
Ucore Rare Metals Inc. is listed on the TSXV and OTC Markets, with a vision to become a leading advanced technology company in the rare earth industry. The Company’s activities are subject to certain risks and uncertainties, detailed in its risk disclosure documents.
