The company based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Great Atlantic Resources Corp. (TSXV: GR), recently shared the analytical results of the initial five rock samples collected during the 2024 exploration campaign at its Pilley’s Island Base Metal – Precious Metal Property in north-central Newfoundland. The samples are distinguished by semi-massive to massive sulfide mineralization, with notable values for gold, silver, copper, lead, and zinc. This discovery area is a novel target for Great Atlantic.
The occurrence of semi-massive to massive sulfides within the property’s northern region indicates possible mineral resources. These sulfides primarily consist of pyrite, with some samples exhibiting Galena (lead sulfide) presence. The property has a significant historical significance, with reports of VMS deposits, including the historic Pilley’s Island Mine and the Bull Road showing zinc – lead – copper – silver – antimony mineral occurrence in the same northern region.
An independent Qualified Person managed the disbursement of the 2024 and 2017 rock samples collected at Pilley’s Island, with Eastern Analytical Ltd. conducting the analysis. The 2024 samples were assessed for gold using fire assay – atomic absorption (AA) and 34 elements by four acid digestion – ICP-OES methods. The 2017 Bull Road showing samples comprised gold tested by fire assay – AA; and copper, lead, zinc, and silver by multi-acid digestion and AA analysis.
The company’s continuous focus on mineral exploration at Pilley’s Island reflects its commitment to the region’s potential. Great Atlantic is operating under the stewardship of David Martin, P.Geo., VP of Exploration for the company and Qualified Person.
The management at Great Atlantic Resources Corp. is optimistic about the future prospects of mineral discovery and development in the mining-friendly jurisdiction of Atlantic Canada, aiming to leverage the region’s abundant mineral resources. The business model follows a Project Generation approach, with a strong focus on critical elements prevalent in Atlantic Canada, including Gold, Copper, Zinc, Nickel, Cobalt, Antimony, and Tungsten.
The company anticipates further exploration activities and potential drilling as the program continues. While forward-looking statements have been made, the company stresses that actual results may differ from these expectations due to various factors. Great Atlantic Resource Corp. operates its business from 888 Dunsmuir Street, Suite 888, Vancouver, B.C., V6C 3K4, with detailed information available on their official press release.
