A recent geological mapping and outcrop sampling project conducted by Colibri Resource Corporation at the EP gold project on the Plomo property in the Caborca Gold Belt, NW Sonora, has yielded promising results. Noteworthy findings include outcrop grab samples with values up to 2.99 grams per tonne (“g/t”) Au, extending the surface mineralization footprint at the San Perfecto target by approximately 350 meters, and samples from the La Culebra target area with values up to 4.64 g/t Au over a strike length of about 650 m.
Ian McGavney, President & CEO of Colibri, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the recent geological mapping and sampling work. He highlighted the expansion of known mineralization at San Perfecto, emphasizing the potential for drill targeting in the southwest area. McGavney also noted the positive results from La Culebra, identifying a 650 m strike length with significant discovery potential. The presence of common copper occurrences at La Culebra further added to the optimism regarding these findings.
San Perfecto Target
Geological mapping and grab sampling at the San Perfecto target area revealed 29 outcrop grab samples, with 14 samples returning values greater than 0.1 g/t Au. The mineralized outcrops extended the known surface mineralization footprint at San Perfecto by about 350 m. The mineralization is hosted by moderately to strongly foliated and altered diorite and is characterized by silicification, sericite alteration, and fine-grained pyrite. The area holds promise for significant mineralization, as demonstrated by strong silicification and vein occurrences in fault zones. The San Perfecto target area represents a high priority drill target on the EP project.
The La Culebra target area, situated about 3 km southeast of core target areas on the Plomo property, was also subject to geological work following historical assays reporting values up to 4.28 g/t Au. Sampling at La Culebra identified 34 grab samples with significant gold values, hosted by rusty zones over a 650 m strike length in a northeast direction. The alteration at La Culebra consists of quartz, sericite, oxidized pyrite, and common malachite occurrences.
About the EP Project and Next Steps
The EP Gold Project covers the Evelyn and Plomo properties in the Caborca Gold Belt of northwestern Sonora, known for its orogenic-type gold deposits. The company is focusing on 14 target areas within the project, leveraging recent and historical high-grade samples and drill intercepts to plan drilling and further exploration activities. The Company is committed to advancing its exploration model and interpretation for the EP project.
