Lucara Diamond Corp. is pleased to announce the recovery of a remarkable 2,492 carat diamond from its Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana. This exceptional find, one of the largest rough diamonds ever discovered, was identified and retrieved using the Company’s Mega Diamond Recovery (MDR) X-ray Transmission (XRT) technology. The stone was recovered from the processing of EM/PK(S) kimberlite, the primary ore type targeted by Lucara during the initial stages of its underground mining operations.
This discovery further solidifies Karowe’s reputation as a world-class asset and reinforces Lucara’s position as a leading producer of large, exceptional diamonds. The 2,492 carat diamond joins a prestigious list of significant finds from the mine, including the Sewelô and Lesedi La Rona diamonds.
