Kodiak Copper Corp., headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, recently announced the results of the initial drilling from the fully funded 2024 drill program at its MPD copper-gold porphyry project in southern British Columbia. The results were attained from the Company’s first hole drilled at the Adit Zone (MPD South) and four exploratory holes at the Belcarra Target (MPD North).
At the Adit Zone, Kodiak’s initial drilling revealed high-grade mineralization near the surface, extending the copper-gold-silver porphyry system observed at surface and in historical drillings. The Adit Zone, open in multiple directions, showcased the best hole ever drilled at Adit, with a 357-meter intersection assaying 0.43% Cu, 0.02 g/t Au, and 10.05 g/t Ag from 89 to 446 meters. Additionally, the drill hole contained higher-grade intervals of copper, gold, and silver within 200 meters of the surface.
Furthermore, drilling at the Adit Zone targeted copper-in-soil and 3D induced polarization chargeability anomalies, indicating that the Adit Zone is part of a larger porphyry system. The ongoing drilling aims to establish controls on near-surface copper oxide and sulphide mineralization at Adit, expanding this zone to depth and along strike. Results from further holes at this zone are pending.
Claudia Tornquist, President and CEO of Kodiak, expressed the significance of the success at Adit, citing its shallow high-grade mineralization and potential economic value. The Company’s exploration efforts are ongoing, with anticipation for continued news flow in the coming months.
Moreover, drilling at the Belcarra Target, located 400 meters south of the Gate Zone, involved testing various anomalies, including 3D chargeability and conductivity anomalies, copper-in-soil samples, and historic rock/trench samples. Results from these drilling efforts identified copper mineralization within the target area.
The 2024 drill program at MPD has seen over 8,500 meters completed to date, with the exploration continuing to include a soil geochemistry program and 3D Induced Polarization surveying to explore new targets identified by Kodiak.
It is important to note that all core samples were sent to a certified laboratory for preparation and analysis. Kodiak ensures quality control through an internal program that includes sample blanks, duplicates, and standards in the field. Jeff Ward, the Vice President of Exploration at Kodiak, is the Qualified Person responsible for reviewing and approving the technical information in the release.
Kodiak Copper Corp. is focused on its copper porphyry projects in Canada and the USA, with the MPD copper-gold porphyry project in British Columbia being its most advanced asset. The Company also holds the Mohave copper-molybdenum-silver porphyry project in Arizona.
