First Hydrogen (TSX-V: FHYD) is focused on expanding its green hydrogen production operations in the North American market, with plans to establish key production sites in Canada and the US.

The company has already begun development on four green hydrogen production sites in the UK and is now turning its attention to North America. First Hydrogen Energy, the energy division of First Hydrogen, is initially targeting Canada for its operations. The country’s abundant renewable energy resources, such as hydropower, solar, and wind, make it an ideal location for producing green hydrogen without carbon emissions. Additionally, recent policy changes in Canada have created new demand for green hydrogen, further supporting the company’s decision to focus on the Canadian market.

First Hydrogen Energy, under the leadership of director and CEO Rob Campbell, plans to capitalize on Canada’s renewable energy resources and evolving policy landscape to establish green hydrogen facilities. The Canadian government’s commitment to funding initiatives that promote the use of zero-emission vehicles highlights the country’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions.

With a focus on zero-emission vehicles, green hydrogen production and distribution, as well as supercritical carbon dioxide extractor systems, First Hydrogen aims to offer customers a comprehensive “Hydrogen as-a-Service” model. This includes clean green hydrogen fuel, advanced refueling stations, and zero-emission commercial vehicles to drive the transition towards a zero-emission ecosystem.

CEO Balraj Mann believes that green hydrogen can position Canada as a leader in decarbonization efforts among G7 nations. By leveraging the country’s renewable energy resources, First Hydrogen aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions and contribute to Canada’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

To support its expansion strategy in Canada, First Hydrogen has enlisted the services of ARUP Canada, a global sustainable development consulting firm. With a team of over 17,000 employees across 33 countries, ARUP will provide engineering consulting services to help First Hydrogen navigate its growth in North America. Andy Ralph, ARUP’s associate principal and Americas hydrogen leader, looks forward to collaborating with First Hydrogen to bring their expertise in green hydrogen to the sustainable energy market in Canada and the US.
