Direct Communication Solutions Inc (CSE: DCSI), a specialist in Internet of Things (IoT) technology, has recently introduced a cloud-based tracking tool tailored for the rapidly expanding global electric bike market.
The newly launched MiEbike mobile app offers a range of features such as alerts, notifications, geozones, and location sharing to assist users in tracking their e-bikes in case of theft. With real-time tracking capabilities, the app aims to enhance the chances of quick recovery of stolen e-bikes.
Fully integrated into Direct Communication’s MiFleet cloud-based fleet tracking and management platform, the MiEbike app is available for purchase online, through carrier partners, or a network of dealers and resellers. Customers can choose between annual or month-to-month subscription plans.
Direct Communication’s CEO, Chris Bursey, emphasized the significance of the app in combating theft within the growing e-bike market. With the high value of e-bikes, the MiEbike app offers a discreet and easy-to-install tracking solution that provides owners with real-time location data for swift recovery. The GPS tracking feature, with a 30-day tracking period at five-second intervals and low battery notifications, offers an additional layer of security by granting visibility of the stolen bike to the owner.
Research indicates significant growth in the global e-bike market, projected to reach $92 billion by 2029 with a compound annual growth rate of 12.6%. Due to their high value, e-bikes are three times more likely to be stolen compared to conventional bicycles. The average cost of an e-bike in the US is $1,800, with replacement lithium-ion batteries costing up to $600. The US sees approximately one e-bike stolen every 30 seconds, resulting in 2 million stolen bikes annually and a financial loss of $350 million per year.
