On August 31, 2024, Bell Copper Corporation announced the temporary suspension of diamond drilling operations on hole BS-4 at its Big Sandy porphyry copper project in northwestern Arizona. The Company plans to resume drilling once additional funding is secured. Bell Copper is actively seeking strategic investments from major copper producers to finance further drilling activities.
The drilling on hole BS-4 reached a maximum depth of 1372 meters but did not fully penetrate post-mineral gravels due to setbacks with stuck drill tooling. Although no bedrock has been encountered yet, promising mineralized gravel clasts containing chalcocite, native copper, and native silver have been observed.
Bell Copper’s drilling of BS-4 follows the successful drill hole BS-3, where a significant intersection of chalcocite-bearing porphyry was found. This intersection graded 0.42 percent copper and 2.4 grams of silver per tonne. Metallurgical testing showed that the copper was recoverable via froth flotation or acid leaching. Bell Copper had been drilling BS-4 since March 2023, using a combination of mud motor drilling and core drilling techniques.
The Company is also collaborating with the Arizona Geological Survey and the University of Arizona to study Big Sandy drill cores for their potential in addressing the US’s supply of critical elements like copper, molybdenum, and rhenium. Results from this study will be presented at an upcoming geological conference.
Bell Copper President & CEO, Dr. Tim Marsh, expressed optimism about the Company’s exploration efforts at Big Sandy and Perseverance projects. The Company is actively seeking financing opportunities to continue its exploration activities in the region.
