Silvercorp Metals (TSX:SVM) has announced plans to bring the El Domo copper-gold project in Ecuador into production by 2026 in collaboration with its subsidiary Curimining S.A. and Salazar Resources (TSXV:SRL).
The company has outlined priority and parallel targets for the project, including further metallurgical test work, advancing power supply for mine operation, and completing detailed engineering design. These efforts aim to improve operational efficiency and ensure the project’s feasibility.
Based on a 2019 metallurgical study, Silvercorp Metals has identified opportunities to enhance metal recoveries through sequential copper floatation. This approach has resulted in higher gold and silver recoveries at lower concentrate mass pull compared to the current bulk flotation flow sheet.
To support the project into production, Jaymes Dircks has been appointed as the general manager of Curimining. With a background in mine construction and project management, Dircks brings valuable expertise to the team.
